In 2006, Erica created a simple way to read music and play piano quickly, and “EasyPeasyKeys” was born. When she applied for a patent, and the US Patent and Trademark Office initially said her method was “too obvious.” However, because a patent must be understandable even to a layperson, it has to work.

Erica tailors all piano books and repertoire recommendations to each student by recognizing their unique strengths, interests, and challenges. In fact, the ultimate goal is to ensure rapid progress while keeping every piece engaging and fun.
At What Age Can My Child Start and How Long Are the Lessons?
Erica works with children as young as 2 to 4, where 30-minute lessons are appropriate. 45-minute lessons work well for children ages 5 to 12, while others are better suited for a one-hour lesson.
How many pieces will my child learn?
While many traditional teachers focus on learning one or two pieces for the year, Erica explores multiple music concepts simultaneously. What are Erica’s Teaching rates?

Rather than spending years on rigid repetition, her piano lessons combine proprietary games, interactive tools, and decades of experience to make music reading effortless and even enjoyable, from the very beginning. Does Erica “make” her piano students practice every day?
Not at all! Instead, Erica suggests visiting the piano 4 or more times between weekly lessons. To start each session, she asks questions like, ‘Was your assignment too easy, too hard, or just right?’ Consequently, this allows her to tailor each lesson directly to the student’s current pace.
Some students work with Erica with the understanding that progress will be made during the lesson itself. In other words, there is no practicing at all…

With whom did Erica study?
Erica began piano lessons with her mother at age 3 and soon after began studying with her father. By age 11, she was commuting five hours each way every week to attend The Juilliard School in NYC, studying under Edgar Roberts and Leonard Eisner.
Later, she studied with German Diez—a protégé of Claudio Arrau, who himself was a pupil of Martin Krause, who was a protégé of the most famous piano virtuoso of all time – Franz Liszt. So it can be said Erica’s students share a direct teaching lineage tracing back to the tenets of Franz Liszt!
