What method does Erica use to teach beginners?

In 2006, Erica created a simple way to read music and play piano quickly, and “EasyPeasyKeys” was born. When she applied for a patent, the US Patent and Trademark Office initially said her method was “too obvious.” But because a patent must be understandable even to a layperson, it has to work.

What books does Erica use?

Erica tailors all piano books and repertoire recommendations to each student by recognizing their unique strengths, interests, and challenges. The goal is rapid progress while keeping every piece engaging and fun.

At what age can my child start, and how long are lessons?

Erica works with children as young as 2–4, where 30-minute lessons are appropriate. 45-minute lessons work well for children ages 5–12, while others are better suited for a one-hour lesson.

How many pieces will my child learn?

While many traditional teachers focus on one or two pieces per year, Erica explores multiple music concepts simultaneously — ensuring every new concept is fully understood before the lesson ends. Students leave with a clear, detailed road map for practicing their repertoire confidently.

Does Erica “make” her students practice every day?

Not at all. Erica suggests visiting the piano 4 or more times between weekly lessons. She opens each session by asking, “Was your assignment too easy, too hard, or just right?” — tailoring each lesson directly to the student’s current pace. Some students work with Erica with the understanding that all progress happens during the lesson itself. No at-home practice required.

My child can’t sit still. Can they still start?

Yes. Piano lessons with Erica are always full of fun activities and games. This structured teaching method keeps students engaged while making rapid progress.

Does Erica make house calls?

Erica prefers dedicating her time directly to teaching rather than commuting. Her studio is fully equipped with proprietary games and custom teaching tools that accelerate learning — students achieve much faster progress and a richer experience by learning in her piano studio.

Erica began her piano studies at age 3 and made her orchestral debut at age 11. She commuted weekly to The Juilliard School and studied under master pianists Edgar Roberts, Leonard Eisner, Daniel Epstein, and German Diez.

Through Mr. Diez — a protégé of Claudio Arrau and Martin Krause — Erica’s teaching lineage connects directly back to Franz Liszt, bringing world-class artistic heritage to every lesson.
